Government Residential Women’s Polytechnic College, Payyannur is one among the five government polytechnics offering the course CABM, with an intake of 52 students. The course is entitled to impart both theoretical and practical knowledge of modern business to the students. This course provides insight to theories and practices on business and inter-disciplinary areas of management and applications of computers in business. Students from the department are able to handle computerized operations of all business activities, proficient in office automation necessary for business management, dynamic enough for handling and assisting all business operations including marketing, sales & customer care and well trained to assist office administration. Candidates for admission shall be required to have passed Xth class examination (S.S.L.C.) conducted by the Board of Public Examinations, Kerala State or any other equivalent examinations already recognized by the Board of Public Examinations, of Kerala State, with the eligibility for Higher Education.
There is a full-fledged computer lab and competent faculty to assist and guide the students. After completing Polytechnic diploma in Computer Application & Business Management, a student can apply for B. Tech in Computer Science & Engineering / Information Technology through lateral entry scheme. Students can also apply for private sector jobs as well as government sector jobs, as:

Computer Application Laboratory
This lab is used to to facilitate the CABM students in their course curriculum . There are a total of 40 computers with internet connection and with state of art facilities. Lab courses conducted in this lab include:
TALLY- I
Students familiarize computerized accounting, the preparation of various statements of accounts. They are taught how to prepare inventory transactions and to understand the preparation of Bank Reconciliation and method of interest calculation.
COMPUTING FUNDAMENTALS
Students are introduced to the computer Fundamentals which includes both hardware and software. They familiarize with office automation tools which include the preparation of documents, spreadsheets, power point presentations, email creations and other office related works. They are taught basic programming concepts and also being introduced the programming language Python.
TALLY II
Students are familiarized with advanced inventory and the practice of calculating Value Added Tax. They are taught to practice service tax, TDS and TCS calculation, excise duty calculation and payroll creation.
OFFICE AUTOMATION SOFTWARE
Students are made to understand word processing and various related works. They are familiarized with spread sheet works. Students get equipped with presentation packages and the usage of database and related functions
RELATIONAL DATABASE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM
Students are familiarized with exercises to create and alter tables. They are taught about retrieval of information using functions. The lab covers exercises to understand queries. They are introduced to methods for creating users and setting privileges.
GRAPHIC DESIGNING
Students are made to practice Corel Draw, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Pagemaker ISM & type IT applications.
VISUAL PROGRAMMING
The lab aims to equip students with the knowledge and practice of arithmetic operations, string and matrix operations, form applications and web applications. This provides a platform for the students to demonstrate what theory they have learnt in visual programming paper.
WEB DESIGNING
The lab provides students with the platform to understand various browsers, to understand and use HTML, creates the ability to design web pages and to know about creating web pages using HTML.
