NSS

The National Service Scheme (NSS) is an Indian government-sponsored public service program conducted by the Department of Youth Affairs and Sports of the Government of India. Popularly known as NSS, the scheme was formally launched on 24th September 1969, the birth centenary year of the Father of the Nation. The sole aim of the NSS is to provide hands on experience to young students in delivering community service.

NSS volunteers in our unit numbered 206 and 160, has been doing many remarkable selfless services for the community. This includes orientation programs on various topics like protection of our environment, importance of blood donation, encouraging reading habit among students, drug abuse & illicit trafficking, the urgency and importance of population issues, skill & personality development, traffic laws and legal awareness etc. We conduct activities like planting trees, cleaning and beautification of campus, community programs and motivation classes.

Benefits of being an NSS Volunteer:

An NSS volunteer who takes part in the community service programme will have the exposure and experience to become the following:

National Integration Camp (NIC):

The National Integration Camp (NIC) is organized every year and the duration of each camp is of 7 days with day-night boarding & lodging. These camps are held in different parts of the state. Each camp involves 60 to 70 NSS volunteers to undertake the scheduled activities.
